Associate Status: This status is for students who are interested in joining Beta Alpha Psi but do not yet meet the eligibility requirements for candidacy or membership. Associates can participate in BAP-exclusive events, meetings, and activities, allowing them to get involved early and build experience. Associates cannot vote or hold office and are not national members, but they can engage fully in chapter life while working toward eligibility.
Candidate Status: Students who meet the minimum academic requirements and complete the application process, during the rush week, enter as Candidates. This is the required starting point for all future members. Candidates participate in professional, service, and other chapter activities to earn the necessary XP credits and demonstrate sustained engagement. This period ensures that all future members have contributed to the chapter and met the chapter’s performance expectations.
Member Status: After earning the required XP credits, maintaining the academic standards, and participating actively in chapter activities, Candidates are formally initiated as Members during the induction ceremony. Members receive national recognition, gain full privileges within BAP, and must continue to meet GPA and participation requirements to remain in good standing.
To remain in good standing after initiation, members must:
Maintain the GPA requirements listed above
Fulfill chapter service and professional activity hours each semester (see the XP Program for more information)
Actively participate in meetings and events (see the XP Program for more information)
Verify Eligibility: Confirm your major/minor and GPA requirements.
Submit Application: Complete the NEIUBAP application form below.
Interview: Participate in a short interview with the chapter officers. This step is waived for 2025-26 applicants!
Welcome Chat: Participate in an informal conversation with our welcome team: current members who will introduce you to the chapter, answer your questions, and help you get started.
Candidate Fee: Good news! This step does not apply to you. Joining NEIUBAP costs you nothing! The College of Business and Technology covers the national candidate fee ($85 value for 2025), so you can enjoy all the benefits of membership without paying a dime.
